Hiya, I'm Cate!

Former opera singer turned Pro Hair and Makeup Artist.

Styling nearly weds and brides since 2014. NYer living in Colorado binging 90 day Fiancé to recharge my introvert batteries!

From the Opera House

to the salon floor

I always thought I was going to make it big and become an opera singer until my mom's friend suggested that I go to hair school to learn a skill while I was waiting to make it big. From my first day of cosmetology school I immediately fell in love with art that wasn't performance based.

And then it all fell apart.

I got my first salon job and hated it. I was horrible at coloring, horrible at cutting. My salon put me on probation because so many clients were complaining about their services. So I decided to quit to do the “normal” route and go to college since hair was clearly NOT working out.

That’s when the wedding industry found me;

While I was in school, I got a part time job at a blow dry bar and got my first taste of styling for weddings. This blow dry bar also happened to do makeup applications and I fell in love with all things wedding.

When I received my first queer wedding inquiry and they had to ask me if I was LGBTQ+ Friendly, as a lesbian, I knew I messed up somewhere. This led me to:

  • coming out publicly in my business

  • taking out any gendered terms in my pricing

And now I have straight couples asking if I service them (wild, right?!)

Where I started VS TODAY

THAT’S WHEN I TRULY FELL IN LOVE WITH RUNNING MY OWN BUSINESS. IT WAS REALLY SCARY AT FIRST TO COME OUT PUBLICALLY AND OPEN MYSELF UP TO HATE, BUT ULTIMATELY IT JUST CONNECTED ME WITH SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE (LIKE YOU!)

Want To Work Together??

I'd be so honored (no, SERIOUSLY!)
